Hannah Drew - Contemporary Artist
About:
Hannah Drew (b. 1997) is an American-Jewish portrait artist based in Los Angeles. The theme of her work draws on personal experiences and impressions from her own multifaceted life, oftentimes bringing moments of family intimacy to life through a contemporary lens and the use of a vivid color palette.
At the young age of 5, she began to show her talent by taking first place in a city wide DreamWorks art competition. Throughout her school years her paintings and sketches were chosen to adorn program covers and presented as the featured work at student art exhibitions.
Inspired by her unique relationship with Rabbi Harold M. Schulweis, the portrait she painted of him was chosen for the cover of the book on his life written by his protégé Rabbi Edward Feinstein and titled, In Pursuit of Godliness and a Living Judaism. The same picture also appears in Rabbi Schulweis’ book Passages of Poetry. In 2017, Hannah was invited to be the featured artist at the Wrights Gallery in Brookings, Oregon. She continues to offer those who are inspired by her singular style the opportunity to commission her talent and allow her to capture the unique features of the familiar faces that bring meaning to their lives.
